QUALIFICATIONS
Here are some of the key qualifications for a FHA mortgage:
- You must be a US citizen or a permanent legal resident
- Reasonably good credit is required. Nothing should show as 30+ days late on your credit report in the last 12 months
- You should not have a bankruptcy or foreclosure in the last 3 years
- You should have stable employment for at least 2 years
- You should have sufficient income so the proposed purchase is affordable for you.
- You must intend to occupy the property as your primary residence
- The property should be for residential use (not for business purpose)
- A minimum of 3 1/2% down payment is required. (A gift for the down payment may be acceptable)
- The loan size should be $271,000 or less
